WE CAN MANUFACTURE BOLTS OF ALL KINDS UP TO

3.00" IN DIAMETER AND AS LONG AS 40 FT.

A bolt is a form of threaded fastener with an external male thread. Bolts are thus closely related to, and often confused with, screws.

The defining distinction of a bolt is in their intended purpose: bolts are for the assembly of two unthreaded components, with the aid of a nut. Screws in contrast are used with components, at least one of which contains its own internal thread, which even may be formed by the installation of the screw itself. Many threaded fasteners can be described as either screws or bolts, depending on how they are used.

Bolts are often used to make a bolted joint. This is a combination of the nut applying an axial clamping force and also the shank of the bolt acting as a dowel, pinning the joint against sideways shear forces. For this reason, many bolts have a plain unthreaded shank as this makes for a better, stronger dowel. The presence of the unthreaded shank has often been given as characteristic of bolts vs. screws, but this is incidental to its use, rather than defining.

AT A GLANCE: BOLT VARIETIES

PIG TAIL EYE BOLTS

Pigtail eyebolts are threaded at one end for the attachment of an expansion unit. The other end is hot worked to form a pigtail eyebolt for suspension of air, water, refrigeration and ventilation columns as well as for electrical telephone cable and chain type handrails.

EYE BOLTS

An eye bolt is a bolt with a loop at one end. They are used to firmly attach a securing eye to a structure, so that ropes or cables may then be tied to it.

J BOLTS

J-shaped bolts that can be used in a variety of applications and are made from several different materials. They are most commonly used to suspend electrical wiring and sheet metal from wooden structures as well as to hold springs in the furniture industry.

SQUARE HEAD BOLTS

Square head machine bolts were the industry standard, prior to hex bolts gaining prominence. Square bolts are now most commonly used for aesthetic purposes to provide a rustic look in a new structure or to match existing fasteners in an older structure.

TIMBER BOLTS

Timber bolts may also be known as dome head bolts, fender head bolts, safety head bolts, and mushroom head bolts. In the Pacific Northwest, they are referred to as an economy bolt. They are often used in marine and wood applications. The underside of the timber bolts head has two nubs or fins which prevent the bolt from turning in the timber. The timber bolt head eliminates the need for a washer, and therefore reduces costs.

MACHINE HEAD BOLTS

Machine screws have machine threads for use with a nut or in a tapped hole. Also referred to as a stove bolt.

HEX HEAD BOLTS

The Hex-headed anchor bolts differ from the rest since their unthreaded end features a forged hex, a heavy hex or a square head. Their special head design allows them to hold onto concrete foundations so that they can form a firm onto which steel columns and other parts of a construction are fastened onto.

MUSHROOM BOLTS

These toggle bolts are anchors for use in hollow walls and hollow masonry applications. The toggle bolt’s wing spreads the force over a larger load bearing surface and comes attached to a machine screw. Toggle bolts are single-use anchors and should be properly positioned prior to pre-drilling the hole.

SWEDGE BOLTS

Swedged anchor bolts are straight rods threaded on one end and the other unthreaded portion of the rod is manufactured with indentations (or dimples) in the body. The parts will be used in a concrete foundation where the indentations will become useful for grip in the concrete or epoxy.
